When TECTERRA first opened its doors, Trusted Positioning Inc., a navigation and positioning company based in Calgary, was ready and waiting. “I believe we were TECTERRA’s first portfolio company,” said Dr. Chris Goodall, CEO of Trusted Positioning. “We formed a relationship with TECTERRA early on and it has helped us grow our company.”

And grow the company did. Back in 2010, Trusted Positioning was based in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, with its three co-founders as employees. Now, three short years later, the company has left the University, grown to over 20 employees and has been reporting revenue since its first product launch in 2011.

Crediting its success to hard work and intelligence, Trusted Positioning continues to excel in the industry and is providing its customers with an inertial/wireless navigation software platform that allows for accurate and affordable navigation and positioning. With the recent beta release of their Trusted Portable Navigator, Trusted Positioning’s future is looking even brighter.

However, successful products and beta launches are not enough for the company. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Trusted Positioning’s overall vision is to provide navigation and positioning everywhere (including underground and undersea) – which, as Goodall agrees, will be no small feat. “It’s something we can always keep working on – something we can always work towards.”

As Trusted Positioning continues to grow, so does their relationship with TECTERRA. “The fact that TECTERRA is focussed in geomatics is a perfect fit for us,” stated Goodall. Now a four-time portfolio company, Trusted Positioning uses TECTERRA’s IND, P2P, Geo-Hire and TAP programs, which allow for commercialization assistance, hiring assistance and tradeshow attendance assistance.
