Student Opportunities with Canadian Cartographic Association
The Canadian
Cartographic Association (CCA) wishes to bring to your attention several
opportunities for geospatial students. Every year the CCA announces awards,
prizes and scholarships for students involved in various forms of cartography
or map-making and GIS applications. We encourage you to share this news with
your colleagues and students.
This year the following prizes are being offered:
1. The President’s Prize Competition consists of two prizes of $250 – https://cca-acc.org/about-us/awards-prizes-and-scholarships/presidents-prize
2. The Carto-Quebec Prize consists of two awards of $500 – https://cca-acc.org/about-us/awards-prizes-and-scholarships/carto-quebec-prize
3. The CCA Web Map Award Competition consists of one prize of $250 – https://cca-acc.org/about-us/awards-prizes-and-scholarships/cca-web-map-award
In addition to the mapping competitions, students are also encouraged to attend and present papers at the 2020 CCA Annual Conference which is taking place at the University of Victoria, B.C., May 25-28, 2020.
The conference is a joint collaboration with the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) and the Association of Canadian Map Libraries and Archives (ACMLA). Deadline for abstracts is February 29, 2020. https://cca-acc.org/conferences/current-conference
All Students who present at the 2020 CCA Annual Conference will have the opportunity to be considered for the best paper award of $250.
