Geomatics Week will take place in Québec City from October 15 to 18, 2019, and will include three main events, including the Canadian Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Summit, which is open to public and private sector geomatics stakeholders.

This fourth edition of the IDS Summit will take place on October 16 at the Concorde Hotel in Québec City. It will be organized jointly by the Canadian Council on Geomatics (COCG), the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles (MERN).

The theme of the IDS Summit is Villes et territoires intelligents/Smart Cities and Communities. The event will be attended by more than 200 geomatics experts from the four corners of Canada. Representatives from the federal, provincial and territorial governments, the municipal and academic communities and private industry will come together to attend conferences, exchange information, and discuss and present the evolution and future prospects of their geospatial data infrastructures.

Selection process

All proposals that focus on expertise connected with the theme of “Smart Cities and Communities” will be considered. The organizing committee will select proposals using the following criteria:

  • The subject refers to the use and development of geospatial infrastructures.
  • The subject is connected to the theme of “Smart Cities and Communities”.
  • The subject is inspiring and innovative, and will allow participants to discover new methods, new technologies or new tools.
  • The subject is aimed at a broad audience.
  • The subject is not designed to sell or promote products or services.

The committee will notify all candidates of its decision no later than Friday, September 30, 2019, and where applicable will inform you of the time allocated for your presentation.
