GeoIgnite Event On YouTube: Fire Side Chat with Dr. Steve Liang & Dr. Nadine Alameh

Day Two of GeoIgnite had a very special event: a fireside chat with Dr. Steve Liang, Founder and CTO of SensorUp, and Dr. Nadine Alameh, the CEO of the Open Geospatial Consortium. These two, who both have ‘personality for days,’ discuss the Internet Of Things, satellites, data, and more, and answer questions about their work. Special Event: Fireside Chat with Dr. Steve Liang, Founder & CTO of SensorUp & Dr. Nadine Alameh the OGC’s CEO

Dr. Steve Liang is the founder and CTO of SensorUp, a NATO award-winning movement intelligence platform that aggregates data from disparate IoT systems, and transforms them into actionable insights. Dr. Liang is a global influencer on the Internet of Things, and he is the working group chair of several international standard working groups of the Open Geospatial Consortium and UN’s ITU-T. Additionally, Dr. Liang is a professor and research chair at the University of Calgary, director of the GeoSensorWeb Laboratory, and a lab scientist of the Creative Destruction Lab. Dr. Steve Liang was recently named the Rogers IoT Research Chair, a five-year research chair position sponsored by Rogers Communications.

Dr. Nadine Alameh serves as OGC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for creating and integrating the strategic direction and business plans of the Consortium in partnership with the OGC Board, members, and staff. Dr. Alameh is a seasoned technology and business professional with a contagious passion for interoperable information exchange, technology & process innovation, and working with diverse motivated teams. Dr. Alameh is no stranger to OGC. From 2009 to 2014, she was Director, then Executive Director, of OGC’s Interoperability Program, leading initiatives in various domains including earth observation, aviation, public safety, and defense.
