Winners of the University of Calgary Geomatics Poster Competition
Winners of the Geomatics Map Poster Competition at the University of Calgary were announced during the 2023 National Expo or Geomatics in Canada. Huge thanks go to the event organizers and volunteers: Rhea Zambra, Zelin Zhou, Saurav Uprety, Ananya Vishwanath, and Assistant Professor Hongzhou Yang from the Department of Geomatics Engineering.
Every year, the Canadian Cartographic Map Awards recognize the achievements of Canadian post-secondary students in cartography or map-making through awards, prizes, and scholarships. The winners’ works were showcased in a gallery during Expo 2023.
The first prize of $500 was awarded to Kent Jones, Derek Lichti, and Robert Radovanovic for their poster on synthetic images for georeferencing post-capture camera images to mobile mapping system point clouds.
Armin Ghayur Sadigh won the second prize of $300 for his poster on the comparison of optimized data-driven models for landslide susceptibility mapping.
Yang Jiang, Farzaneh ZangenehNejad, Yan Zhang, and Yang Gao won the third prize of $200 based on a popularity vote for their poster on centimeter-level smartphone GNSS velocity determination using time-differenced carrier-phase measurements and solution separation testing.
