Sinan Betran, Masters Student in Urban and Regional Planning at Queen’s University

Although a new face to GoGeomatics, Sinan Betran is no stranger to geomatics.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Sinan now resides in Kingston, Ontario. He did his undergraduate degree in Geographic Information Systems at the University of Toronto (UofT). Currently, Sinan is working on his Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning at Queens University.

During his undergraduate studies, Sinan attended a conference talk hosted by Jonathan. It was here he learned about GoGeomatics. He took “a few random courses” related to geomatics during university and realized he deeply enjoyed the subject.

Sinan was drawn to becoming a Group Leader because he found the opportunity to engage and interact with both students and local professionals exciting, as well as being able to socialize.

Sinan hopes to share his passion and excitement for Urban Planning and Geomatics with GoGeomatics Socials participants.
