By 2024, firefighters will be using satellite imagery to detect forest fires

Climate change is resulting in an increase in forest fires, therefor scientists are obligated to come up with new and innovative ways to fight forest fires.

At the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, a researcher and analyst “is developing a new type of satellite that will monitor and relay information about fires to crews on the ground in real time”.

This new tool will provide accurate data in real time, in comparison to the current tool, which is to gather experts who fly in planes over the regions.

It is estimated that this satellite will be up and running in the next four to five years.

The Future of BIM

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is up and coming and believed that it will impact the way architects think about buildings and design. To some, such as Scott Chatterton, former HDR international BIM integration lead and digital design leader from BIM planning and quality, “Drawing packages will go away eventually. Traditional contract paper delivery doesn’t contain a tenth of the data contained within the Building Information Model.”

Architectural drawings impacted and changed the world, the way the profession is done, and the way we build and design. By utilizing the Internet of Things and the data it generates, we can share, manipulate, use and reuse the date in ways we can’t even imagine!
