Building Climate Resilience with Software and Data: A Participant-led Event in Ottawa, May 2025

Are you living in Ottawa, familiar with software and data projects, and motivated to act on climate change impacts and risks?

This FREE new “unconference” event is the perfect opportunity for you to network, learn and share your knowledge and experience about climate change-related software tools and data. Don’t miss out on this chance to connect with like-minded individuals and work towards a more sustainable and positive future!

Wait, What’s an Unconference?

It’s a loosely structured, participant-led conference focusing on informal exchanges of information and ideas. The actual agenda, tracks, sessions, and discussions will all be determined in a “grassroots” manner by you, the participants.

Why Our Company Is Involved

Ottawa’s Deploy Software Solutions is facilitating this event. We specialize in climate change software R&D, using data and observations from Earth and space. We’ve been involved in GoGeomatics and GeoIgnite events many times in the past, showcasing our climate change research as we went.

We are convinced that more urgent action is needed on climate change adaptation and resilience and are confident that breaking down silos and getting interested parties in a room will lead to useful tools, data, and practices that are sorely needed in Canada and elsewhere.

So, we’re taking positive action with this new event in Ottawa, and we’d love for you to join us! While we will provide organizing help, the exact schedule, venue, and agenda of the unconference will be determined by its participants (hopefully including you).

Why You Should Be Involved

We can’t think of a better community to join in those conversations and participate in this event than GoGeomatics community members. (In fact, we’re pleased to announce that GoGeomatics Canada has agreed to be the Official Media Sponsor of this unconference!)

Climate adaptation and resilience software and data is inherently geospatial. Some of our participants won’t have any technical skills or geo knowledge but will have lots of insight into the issues, necessary actions, and “use cases” that are needed to build resilience in Ottawa and elsewhere, and so this is a chance to get some grassroots feedback, plant some seeds, break down barriers to action, and step up the fight against climate change.

We can’t wait to see you there!
