LiDAR Services International Announces Major LiDAR Contract Awards
Calgary, Alberta Canada – LiDAR Services International (LSI) is pleased to announce two major contract awards, one in Canada and the other in Central America.
LSI has been awarded the second and final phase of the Mackenzie Valley Highway new route corridor survey in the NWT. Project is approximately 500 linear km in length and requires a 1 km width of LiDAR and digital imagery coverage. LSI is pleased to have teamed up with Challenger Geomatics/Inukshuk Geomatics for the establishment of a GPS control point network every 10 km along the new route corridor. LSI will use their latest high altitude proprietary MATRIX LiDAR system which integrates a Riegl Q780 laser with an IXSEA ARINS inertial measurement unit (IMU). This final phase of the highway survey runs from between Fort Good Hope and Norman Wells and ends north of Inuvik. LSI will be mobilizing the survey aircraft to the NWT in June.
LSI has also recently been awarded a large LiDAR mapping project in Costa Rica that is approximately 700 sq. km. in size. The project is for the detailed LiDAR survey of a number of potential hydroelectric dam sites located in Costa Rica. LSI teamed up with W.I.R.E. Services a division of Manitoba Hydro International for this contract award. The final client is Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) the Costa Rican national electrical utility. LSI will ship one of their proprietary MATRIX LiDAR systems to Costa Rica for installation and use on to a local Bell 206B helicopter.
MATRIX is LSI’s 5th generation of in house LiDAR system development and utilizes software modularity architecture to allow fast and flexible system configuration to meet clients’ requirements. Each MATRIX system integrates Riegl scanning lasers with various IMU’s and various downward and forward looking digital still and video cameras. All MATRIX systems can be flown in either helicopter or various aircraft platforms. LSI operates 3 MATRIX LiDAR systems.
