GoGeomatics Canada is Looking for Geospatial Speakers in Ottawa and Toronto

Do you have something to say about GIS, surveying, remote sensing or location technology?

GoGeomatics Canada is looking for speakers for our upcoming socials in Ottawa and Toronto. Our monthly socials take place in pubs across Canada; after all, nothing goes better with geomatics talk than a cold beer and good company! Over the last six months, we’ve been expanding our talks on Canadian geospatial themes, and we’ve had nothing but positive feedback. Take a look at a list of our scheduled socials across Canada by clicking here.

April Social OttawaFix

Corinna Vester and Ann Martin discuss the CGCRT at the James Street Pub for Ottawa’s April social

Just like in our popular online magazine, we encourage contribution from all sectors of the Canadian geospatial community. That means speakers can bring anything to the table, as long as it’s related to geomatics. Is your company offering an innovative new product or service? Are you a researcher who would like to talk about your recent work or findings? Are you part of a non-profit group in the geospatial sector? Are you a student who would like to talk about your recent co-op or school experience? We would love to hear from you.

Presentations should be 20-30 minutes, with time for a Q&A at the end – keep in mind that discussions can get quite lively! Our venues in Ottawa and Toronto have projectors and screens ready to go if you need them; just bring your laptop and presentation. Our socials also have sponsorship opportunities available.

Please email info@gogeomatics.ca to nominate yourself or someone else as a speaker. Some of our past speakers have included:

  • Ann Martin, Director of GeocConnections, Natural Resources Canada
  • Corinna Vester, Canadian Geomatics Community Round Table
  • Dr. Bob Ryerson, former Director General of the Canadian Remote Sensing Service
  • Kevin Andrews, Product Manager, Applanix
  • David Gachuche, CEO and Ottawa Geomatics Entrepreneur, Glock8 Technologies
  • Dr. Andrew Davidson, Manager, Earth Observation – AgroClimate, Geomatics and Earth Observation Division

Don’t live in Ottawa or Toronto but still interested in joining our speakers series? We also host events in Vancouver, Calgary, Niagara, and Edmonton and we’re always looking to expand. Get in touch at info@gogeomatics.ca.
