After more than five decades, the world’s most prestigious gathering in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences returns to Canada. The XXV Congress of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) will take place in Toronto from 4–11 July 2026 and will be held jointly with the 47th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing. This landmark event will bring together global leaders, researchers, innovators, and industry experts for an exceptional scientific conference and commercial exhibition.
Canada at the Forefront
Canada has long been at the forefront of advances in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geospatial information sciences. Leadership from the Canadian Remote Sensing Society – Société canadienne de télédétection (CRSS-SCT) reflects a dynamic national community of experts from academia, government, and industry.
Canadian industry is strongly represented, with members serving on the organizing committee and 16 of the 52 exhibitors coming from Canada. Government agencies are also playing a key role, with scientists from Natural Resources Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the Canadian Space Agency leading sessions and contributing expertise throughout the program.
Academic engagement has been equally significant, with professors from eight Canadian universities helping shape the Congress experience. Canadian leadership is also evident in the development of the technical program, tutorials on geospatial deep learning, quantum computing, urban scene modelling, as well as student activities and social events.
International Collaboration
The Congress will welcome participants from every continent at a time when international cooperation is more important than ever. As environmental and societal challenges continue to grow in scale and complexity, the event offers a timely platform for the global community to connect, collaborate, and advance meaningful solutions.
As the Congress returns to Canada after 54 years, hosting this edition presents a rare opportunity to welcome the world while showcasing Canada’s longstanding contributions and future leadership in these fields. It also reinforces a shared commitment to international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
This includes support for student travel grants from Canadian sources and the ISPRS Foundation, as well as Canadian Congress assistance grants that help non-presenting professionals from the Global South attend and participate fully in the Congress.
Why Attend?
The Toronto Congress is especially relevant for professionals working in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences because it combines a top-tier scientific conference with a broad range of practical and industry-focused opportunities.
Alongside oral and poster presentations featuring cutting-edge peer-reviewed research, attendees will have access to a commercial exhibition, industry technology talks, lightning talks, applied industry sessions, and interactive forums.
Together, these components provide access to the latest knowledge, emerging methods, and real-world applications with relevance for Canada and the global geospatial community.
The Toronto Congress is more than an event to attend, it is an opportunity to build partnerships, exchange ideas, and help shape the future of geospatial science in Canada and around the world.
We invite the global geospatial community to come together in Toronto for this landmark edition of the ISPRS Congress and the Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing.
