Pacific Geomatics Brings Maxar’s WorldView Legion to Canadian Projects

PacGeo

Pacific Geomatics (PacGeo), a leading Canadian satellite imagery provider, is pleased to announce a limited-time special tasking promotion for Canadian organizations to access high-resolution satellite imagery at an outstanding value. Maxar Intelligence, a longstanding partner and industry leader in satellite imaging and geospatial insights, is offering a 20% discount on all qualified commercial tasking orders until April 30, 2025. This promotion comes at a key time, as Maxar’s market-defining WorldView Legion satellites enter operations.

Maxars Next-Generation Satellites

The deployment of Maxar’s WorldView Legion represents a notable advancement in Earth Observation technology. With the launch of the fifth and sixth satellites earlier this year, an event witnessed by PacGeo’s President, Matt Tomlins, Maxar has tripled its capacity to collect 30 cm-class imagery. The Maxar constellation will be able to collect 3.6M sq km of 30 cm-class imagery per day, contributing to a total capacity of over 6 million square kilometres daily.

WorldView Legion stands out because of its unique orbital configuration. Combining traditional sun-synchronous orbit satellites with mid-inclination orbit satellites, Maxar enables up to 15 daily revisits of critical locations with “dawn-to-dusk” capabilities.

The imagery quality is impressive, with 30 cm resolution providing exceptional visual clarity. Combined with Maxar’s HD technology, the imagery reaches 15 cm resolution, further enabling identification of small objects and subtle changes essential for detailed analysis.

WorldView Legion’s geolocation accuracy of under 5 metres without ground control points ensures precise spatial alignment, which is essential for mapping and infrastructure projects.

These capabilities can translate to substantial benefits for Canadian projects in multiple sectors:

  • Government & Defence: More frequent monitoring of critical infrastructure, border regions, and remote territories, with complementary coverage of northern latitudes. The improved revisit rates support heightened security monitoring and emergency response planning.
  • Mining & Exploration: Regular site monitoring and exploration activities benefit from the high-resolution imagery that captures critical operational details. Companies can track site development, monitor environmental compliance and identify potential resource areas with greater precision.
  • Forestry & Environmental: Improved change detection capabilities support forest management, conservation efforts, and climate impact assessment. The frequent revisits enable more timely identification of environmental changes, from deforestation to natural disaster impacts.
  • Urban Planning & Development: The detailed imagery supports infrastructure planning, urban growth monitoring and land use management with exceptional clarity and temporal frequency.

For organizations prioritizing Canadian connections in their procurement decisions, Maxar Technologies has Canadian ties through partial ownership by British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI).

Promotion Details & How to Take Action

With the recent expansion of Maxar’s constellation, this 20% discount on commercial tasking orders presents an ideal opportunity for Canadian organizations to access industry-leading satellite imagery at preferential pricing. The offer corresponds well with spring and summer projects, as imagery collected during these seasons offers optimal conditions for many applications.

The special offer includes:

  • 20% discount on commercial tasking orders
  • Available to customers who have not purchased tasking in the 90 days prior to March 19, 2025
  • Tasking collection dates between March 19 -December 31, 2025
  • Resolution options: 30 cm & 50 cm, and 15 cm HD
  • All Maxar sensors included (WorldView Legion, WorldView-3, WorldView-2, WorldView-1 and GeoEye-1)

PacGeo’s technical experts can help determine the optimal collection specifications based on project requirements, including appropriate resolution, viewing angles and spectral bands. The company can also provide services such as image processing and integration with existing geospatial data.

Excluded from this offer are multi-year and current contracts, MGP Pro tasking, existing orders, and DAF/RAP Area orders.

Now is the perfect time to acquire an up-to-date view of your assets, refresh your maps or tackle a new project with state-of-the-art Earth Observation data. To take advantage of this limited-time offer before the April 30 deadline, organizations can contact Pacific Geomatics.
