This talk will demonstrate the challenges and opportunities presented by leveraging location technology in the oil patch; it is possible to bring down operational costs while improving efficiencies and safety.

Danbi is a research consultant in geodesign and a former Parks Planner at the City of Toronto. She has 4 years of experience as a private planning and urban design consultant in Toronto, Regina, and Saskatoon, and two years as an academic researcher in urban remote sensing applications. Danbi specializes in urban environmental planning, public engagement, and geographic information systems and works at the intersection of design, technology, and policy. In this talk, Danbi will introduce the concept of geodesign and highlight a couple of applications from her own research such as surface infiltration capacity mapping and measuring visual pollution in an urban setting.

2016 Canadian SmallSat Symposium

The Canadian Space Commerce Association (CSCA) is organizing its first Canadian SmallSat Symposium building on the heritage of similar events held in Canada over the years. It’s about opportunity and building capability.
SmallSat’s are growing in demand, especially at the micro and nano scale. To take advantage of this demand, the CSCA is bringing together stakeholders from across the country and inviting international participation to foster cooperation and market growth. The Canadian Space Commerce Association (CSCA) is pleased to confirm that Canadian Space Agency President Sylvain Laporte will deliver the second plenary on the first day of the Symposium.

PCI Geomatics to Hold User Group Meeting

PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of remote sensing and photogrammetric software and systems, will be holding a User Group Meeting in Ottawa, Canada on February 4th, 2016.

The free event will bring together the PCI Geomatics User Community from Ottawa and the surrounding regions, and is open to all. Presentations will cover new technology that has been developed by PCI Geomatics for extracting high resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Automated Historical Image Processing and new Python based developer tools.
